here descriptor is the serivice name you should create.
it is the connectstring/hostring/tnsentry...etc
2. YES.
dblinkname should be same as connectstring name.
3. Yes.
just any webserver (IIS, apache) which will occupy
a particular port.
4. If there is one listener for all databases, it is
easy for maintenence. ( i do this for most of
my REGULAR DATABASES)
but
a. If i can hack down that listener, all the databases
can be accessed from outside.
b. and if all the datbases is experiencing
heavy load, if there is only one listener serving all the requests,
that would be a bottleneck.

and pls reply to MY POSTING (you are relying to urs).
else, i would not get any notification at all.
